Wounded Faun

Fauns are often associated with nature, fertility, and the wild and are typically depicted as half-human and half-goat creatures. In this artwork you can interpret the narrative as the consequences of human encroachment on the natural world as a wound we are inflicting on our selves.

This sculpture is an analogue reduction of a life-size sculpture I made in 2015, and the result of a private commission. The bronze was completed in late February 2017 in Florence, Italy.

A resin version was exhibited in the group show La Forma Della Bellezza in Pienza 2018 featuring alumni from The Florence Academy of Art and the bronze version was used on the promotional material for the exhibition.
