Avatar is part of a series exploring masculinity in contemporary society. This particular sculpture draws inspiration from gaming culture and the rise of virtual reality as modern substitutes for traditional rites of passage.

The concept of avatars fascinates me—the idea of donning a new identity to experience an alternate reality. It presents an opportunity for expanding consciousness through the loss of Self, while also reflecting a denial of the limitations imposed by our physical existence in the 'real' world.

Is the experience gained through Virtual Reality any less meaningful than that gained in the 'real' world? Does consciousness not perceive it as equally valid? I began with an expression of anguish, which ultimately transformed into an empty space—a space symbolizing both potential and loss.

The bindings on his wrists represent self-imposed virtual limitations, mirroring psychological constraints experienced in reality. Will this Player liberate himself to realise his true self?
