A piece exploring different scales and perspectives
A young boy feeling alone but in fact is protected by the One who Watches over him

A Benevolent Gaze. The small boy feels alone but there is a benevolent gaze upon him, silently buffering him from the harshness of the darkness all around.
Done in 2017, partly from life (the portrait was begun in Florence with the model Laura) and finished from imagination during a residency at Mapstone Studio in Devon, UK. I wanted to experiment with the effect of having two scales in the figures to introduce a psychological depth to the narrative.
Year sculpted: 2017.
Dimensions (H x W): 45cm x 35cm. Actual size may vary, especially depending on the base.
