Female Torso
Marble carving from a classical plaster cast as model.
Whilst I was studying sculpture at The Florence Academy of Art in 2015. I spent the weekends over one term during my second year learning how to carve marble in the traditional ‘pointing’ method under the guidance of master stone carver Jason Arkles.
Jason offered several academic plaster casts to copy and I chose the small female torso to make a copy of.
Jason is a great guy – and I advise you not to miss his podcast, The Sculptors Funeral which you’ll find on his homepage.
