Peripeteia

The inspiration for Peripeteia are those moments when the ground suddenly shifts and things can no longer continue as they have been. 

The title ‘Peripeteia’ refers to a sudden turn of events, a reversal of circumstances, a moment where the ground shifts beneath one’s feet and things can no longer continue as they have been. 

This is a small but slightly different version of the life size resin ‘Red Star’ sculpture. Both versions have the mask in the left hand which signifies the unmasking of self-delusion.

The high marble base on the first edition (see pictures) was made from a unique piece of “Nero e Oro” (Black and Gold) marble from Portovenere, Italy. The other three editions will have a lower base in another type of marble.
